Adult Coaching

While some adults are diagnosed with ADHD as children, many do not come to their diagnosis until later in life. ADHD impacts a person’s employment, relationships, finances, home environment, and social life. And while there are other prongs that are extremely helpful in dealing with ADHD-medication, therapy, exercise, to name a few-coaching can be particularly useful. Coaching addresses where you are, where you’d like to be, and dives into that gap. How will you get there? What is in your way? What can help? Coaching is about TAKING ACTION to meet ones goals. As your coach, I will work with you to discover what your strengths and values are, brainstorm what might work and what won’t, ask questions that make you think and learn about yourself, and enable you to shoot for your own particular star in your constellation!

A specialty of mine is money management and ADHD. I hold an MBA in Finance, have developed and controlled $450 million budgets-but I also know the pain of bad credit ratings, no savings, worry about retirement. Let me help you to understand your relationship with money, learn where your challenges are, and work with you to ultimately put you in charge!

Chaos Free Family Coaching

Being a parent of a child with ADHD is not easy. You love your child, you think they are wonderful, talented, funny, and kind. But-when they forget their homework for the third time this week, when the school seems to have you on speed dial, and worst, when your child comes home from school or a playdate dejected and unhappy, it can be heartbreaking and frustrating.  I have been there!

I am thrilled to announce that I have joined forces with Chaos Free ADHD LLC to offer a fantastic family education and support program, “Chaos Free Family!” Through this eight week program that includes videos that you can watch on your own schedule (and that you can access for one year, so can view over and over!), and parent support calls, you will be able to address the most common ADHD challenges, including:

  • Time Management
  • Task Initiation/Completion
  • Organization
  • Emotional Control
  • Following Instructions/Defiance
  • Effective Discipline
  • Growing Independence

The Chaos Free Family program will help you to understand your child’s ADHD, learn about the executive functions and discover the right interventions for different challenges, manage transitions, address meltdowns and help your child to deal with overwhelm, and correct behavior in ways that are effective and kind.

The American Academy of Pediatrics identifies Parent Training in ADHD Behavioral Management as a critical part of the treatment of childhood ADHD. With just 30 minutes per week, you can get that training through the Chaos Free Family program, and set up your child-and the rest of your family-for success. And peace!

I truly wish this program had been around when my ADHD child was growing up!

IEP/504 Assistance

The process of determining if your ADHD student is eligible for services, modifications, and/or accommodations, can feel like being stuck in a maze with unreachable exits! I’d be happy to help you navigate the process of obtaining an IEP or Section 504 plan, including suggesting items that should be included, and ways in which to work with teachers to ensure that the plans are being adhered to. As a former classroom teacher, I am aware of the ins and outs of this process, as well as the detours that can take place. Let me be your guide to successfully getting the help your child is entitled to!

Teen/College Coaching

As a teacher with experience teaching middle school students, I have seen first hand how ADHD impacts kids in the classroom. Issues with organization, time management, interrupting, difficulty with peers, all can ultimately have a negative impact on your child’s self esteem that can stay with them for life.

As a coach for middle school through college students, I will work with your teen/college student to develop strategies and routines that will enable them to feel in control of their life in and out of the classroom, and find success! More importantly, they will become aware of their special strengths and talents, and how to utilize them to tackle any challenges that come their way.

Your young adult and I will partner together so they can learn how to:

  • Build routines
  • Manage time and deadlines effectively
  • Identify triggers of emotionally charged responses, and find ways to mitigate them
  • Grow self aware  in terms of skills that need support, and strengths to utilize

In addition, I offer “Chaos Free Family” coaching to all parents, in order to increase your knowledge of your child’s ADHD, and to give you the tools you need to maintain a peaceful home environment. You can choose to have an individual coaching experience for teen/college students, or pair it with Family Coaching-the choice is yours!

I loved working with students as a teacher, and I can’t wait to help your young adult reach for the stars as their coach!
